Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios has blamed Call of Duty for a poor performance at the US Open, saying the game has impacted his eyesight.
Kyrgios asked for eye drops after three games in a match against Andrey Rublev and eventually turned to his coaching box during the second set to complain, “Gaming, bro. Call of Duty has ruined me.”
During a press conference held after his US Open exit, Kyrgios said his eyes were having difficulty adjusting to the lighting.
“I [threw] the ball up in the air and I can’t see for, like, 30 seconds after.”
“I was just taking a shot because I game a lot so my eyes might have taken a wihle to adjust to the lights,” he said when asked to explain the Call of Duty reference. “Yeah, so, I dunno. I’m a bit of a gamer.”
Maybe he should play AO Tennis instead?
The next Call of Duty to be released is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Kyrgios has a bit of time to work on his tennis skills; the title heads to Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4 on 25 October.
