Luigi totally wasn’t killed earlier today, you guys

Nintendo UK has taken to Twitter to let Luigi fans know that the character wasn’t killed earlier this morning.

This morning’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Nintendo Direct announced newcomer Simon Belmont (Castlevania) by literally killing Luigi off — in the cutscene shown (screencapped above), Death slashes Luigi with a sword AND CAUSES HIS GHOST TO FALL OUT OF HIM.

Despite this, Nintendo is reassuring fans that “Luigi is okay”.

Problem solved, you guys.

This isn’t the first time that Nintendo’s killed off a Mario brother — Mario Mario himself was the first victim, falling to the newly announced Ridley back at E3 2018. Arguably, Mega Man and Samus bit the dust too.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate heads to Switch in December. In the meantime, you can watch both sets of murders below.
