Fallout 76 has an amazing Star Trek TNG Easter egg

Someone at Bethesda Game Studios loves Star Trek: The Next Generation, adding a dope Star Trek Easter egg inside Fallout 76.

Found by ItsTheKoolAidMan, the Easter egg is found at a location called Tanagra Town — which is an Easter egg itself. The real kicker is a piece of graffiti found at the location, which reads, “Darmok + Jalad” (above).

Next Generation fans should already get the reference by now. If not, it references TNG‘s Season 5 episode “Darmok”, in which Captain Picard engages with another captain called Dathon. The captains cannot communicate fully, so Dathon uses limited phrases to try to get his point across. One of those is, “Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra.”

This isn’t the first time a TNG Easter egg — nor, a “Darmok” one at that — has appeared in a Bethesda game. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim featured a potential mate for the Dragonborn named Temba Wide Arm. That reference comes from another of Dathon’s phrases, “Temba, his arms wide.”

Neat, eh?

If you’re looking for Tanagra Town, check your map — it’s near a river and an image of deer (see below).

Fallout 76 is available on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4. We’re not crazy for it, but still appreciate the Star Trek love.
