Diablo 4 Season 1 starts on 20 July

Get that new character ready!

Diablo 4 Season 1 will kick off on 20 July, complete with a new adventure, monsters and more.

“Following the tradition of previous Diablo games, seasons give all players an opportunity to start the Season Journey fresh with the new features and gameplay mechanics that have been added,” Activision Blizzard advised in a press release.

For those needing a translation, that means you’ll also need to spin up a new character to engage with the content.

“With everyone on an even playing field, players can try out new classes and builds that they have been curious about—or journey through the season with an established favorite class/build—while engaging in the seasonal mechanics for a new experience,” Blizzard continued. “Leveling up a new character doesn’t require starting from scratch, as it brings with it the previous renown gained from discovering the map and the benefits from the Altars of Lilith players have found. If you have the mount unlocked, you will also be able to use it immediately on your new character. After each season concludes, all characters will be migrated to the Eternal Realm, where players will be able to access them permanently.”

The Season will bring new Malignant Monsters into the fold; destroyng them will cause them to drop corruption and Malignant Hearts, which can then be inserted into Rings and Amulets.

The content also comes complete with a paid and free Battle Pass.

Diablo 4 is now on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4 and PS5. We reviewed it here, and looked at it from a beginner’s perspective here.
