Destruction All-Stars disables default voice chat after complaints

Probably for the best.

Destruction All-Stars has disabled default voice chat after allegations of trolling and harrassment alongside plain ol’ distaste of the feature.

Developer Lucid Games took to Twitter to confirm that it had “disabled multiplayer lobby voice communications by default for all players,” and that it was “actively working on longer-term enhancements to the voice communications system.”

The decision comes after social media was awash with complaints about the feature. While most simply didn’t like the fact that voice chat was on by default rather than opting-in to the service, a number of users

“I’m sure it’ll be fun with younger kids like Rocket League,” user GhostCrew wrote on ResetEra. “But I don’t think they’ll want ‘DIE YOU FUCKING BITCH!’ or some horrible homophobia screaming out of their controller speaker in their living room if they’ve forgotten to mute the chat that round. I’m presuming there must be parental controls that get around this being a thing for younger players. But even as a mid-30s adult it’s pretty embarrassing.”

Destruction All-Stars is available now on PS5 and is a February 2021 PlayStation Plus freebie.
