Destiny’s Zavala will now be voiced by Keith David

"Lance captured the character's sense of integrity so wonderfully. It is my intention to continue that work."

Destiny 2‘s Zavala will now be voiced by Keith David, following the tragic passing of Lance Reddick earlier this year.

In a new post, developer Bungie said that Zavala’s character is “central to the story we have been telling since the original Destiny,” and was essential moving forward.

Bungie announced that Keith David “will assume the English language voice of Zavala in The Final Shape and beyond,” adding that “Lance’s existing lines in-game will remain untouched for the upcoming release.”

David is a star of film and screen, appearing in titles including Nope, Rick and Morty, They Live, The Princess and the Frog, and many more.

“I am honored to continue the great work of Lance Reddick as Zavala” David said in a statement. “Lance captured the character’s sense of integrity so wonderfully. It is my intention to continue that work.”

Bungie has previously advised that Nathan Fillion will return to the franchise for its Final Shape expansion.

Destiny 2 is available now on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4 and PS5.
