Destiny 2 Prismatic Matrix to be removed from the Eververse

Destiny 2‘s Prismatic Matrix will be removed from the game later this week, making way for a new, microtransaction-powered bundle system.

From 6 March (in Australia), Bungie will remove the ability to acquire and use the Prismatic Matrix; any remaining stock that you have in your personal inventory will be swapped out for 150 Bright Dust per Matrix. The Prismatic Matrix was an item used to increase the chance of obtaining a specific cosmetic item in the Eververse itself.

Bright Dust, Destiny 2‘s in-game currency, will remain in place alongside its real-world money counterpart, Silver. In place of the Matrix itself will be special bundles for sale that mean a player can acquire what they’d like… provided they’ve the Silver for it. All of these bundles will contain an “exclusive vanity item.”

Destiny 2 is available now on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4. The game’s Season of the Drifter begins 6 March here in Australia.
