Destiny 2 Festival of the Lost 2018 detailed by Bungie

The Destiny 2 Festival of the Lost 2018 event has been fully detailed by developer Bungie.

Starting at 4.00am AEDT on Wednesday, 17 October (aka the game’s weekly reset; your timezone here), the event will see the Tower decorated with spooky, Halloween-themed visuals.

In terms of rewards, the event will offer up themed Triumphs and daily bounties, the latter of which will reward Guardians with Fragmented Souls. Those souls can be used to purchase new Festival of the Lost masks and a new Legendary Auto Rifle called Horror Story.

Each time a Guardian fills his or her XP bar, they’ll earn an Ephemeral Engram that can be cashed in at Eververse for items like Ghost dress-ups (two of which can be viewed above). Said engram will drop alongside the normal Steadfast Engram, which will award Guardians with double Bright Engrams over the Festival of the Lost. Additional Ephemeral Engrams can be purchased from the Eververse if players choose.

The Haunted Forest will play a big part of the event, with Guardians given 15 minutes to “dive as deep as they can” and clear out Nightmares. The further a solo or matchmade team gets into the Forest, the more rewards will be earned.

Finally, the event’s murder mystery aspect will have you looking into the murder of Master Ives. “Maybe someone wanted to settle an old score, or lost their temper when receiving an Edge Transit,” Bungie said of the murder, very tongue-in-cheek. Said investigation will be offered through a new quest line which will reward players with a powerful reward at its completion.

The pursuit will take place through a quest line, which adds an additional, powerful reward for players to earn each week. That quest line starts right near the end of the event, on 30 October.

Destiny 2 is available now on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4. Images from the event are below.
