Cyberpunk 2077’s first big expansion is current-gen only

Just a friendly reminder that the game was basically unplayable on last-gen at launch.

Cyberpunk 2077‘s first big expansion, Phantom Liberty, will skip last-gen consoles when it becomes available next year.

Phantom Liberty is a spy thriller in which V and Keanu Reeves’ Johnny Silverhand will perform covert ops for the New United States of America.

While there’s a bit of time to wait to play that romp, a Edgerunners update will introduce new cosmetics into the game next week and will also offer up the chance to transmog your gear and save up to six outfits. That content will be available on all available platforms, though CD Projekt Red has also indicated those on current-gen will get some extra surprises.

The developer said it had “Added more secrets in Night City to be discovered by players,” but that “Due to some technical challenges, this change isn’t available on the previous generation of consoles.”

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5 and Stadia; we reviewed it here and detailed its last-gen issues here.

Cyberpunk Edgerunners is an animated series that heads to Netflix on 14 September here within Australia.
