Crash Bandicoot mobile game shuts down after less than two years

Wompa.

Crash Bandicoot On the Run, a Crash Bandicoot mobile game from Candy Crush‘s King, will be shut down in early February, less than two years after the title was released.

All in-app purchases have been disabled in-game ahead of its 16 February 2023 shutdown.

“You will have until 16th February 2023 to make use of associated purple crystals in-game,” King said.

“It has meant so much to bring your favourite Crash characters to life and we’ve sincerely loved making this game,” King continued. “Thank you for spending your time with us and we hope you will join us in one of our many other games.”

Perhaps needless to say, fans and players weren’t impressed with the news.

“[You’re] kidding me??! I’ve finished the game and have been waiting for new levels for ages,” wrote one.

“There were some really wonderful things about this game, from the varied skins to the crazy selection of bosses that represented the whole series’ history, even obscure characters, and the music knocked it out of the park,” said another. “It was an incredibly Crash-y game despite everything, and I’m sad to see it go.”

Crash Bandicoot On the Run was formally released in March 2021. It’s currently available on iOS and Android devices.
