Cortana for Android now in an open beta for those in the USA

Cortana for Android is now entering an open beta stage in the United States.

Formerly a closed beta, the ported personal assistant is described as “the companion to your Windows 10 PC, extending Cortana’s functionality across any device you carry.”

There’s a couple differences between Cortana on Windows devices on Android, however. The “Hey, Cortana” voice activation doesn’t yet work on Android as yet.

Microsoft plans to bring Cortana to other regions — including Australia — in the future.
