Control developer Remedy working on a second shared universe game

Remedy's upcoming titles with Epic Games will share a universe, different from the one shared by Control and Alan Wake.

Control developer Remedy Entertainment is hard at work on a second shared universe game, it has recently been disclosed.

Remedy CEO Tero Virtala made the announcement to GamesIndustry, disclosing that Remedy’s upcoming titles in partnership with Epic Games will take place in the same universe.

“When we were focused on just creating one single story, I don’t think we were utilising enough of all the hard work we did on creating the background for these worlds,” Virtala said. “With Control, we took the first step in giving players more reasons to spend more time in the world, explore them and that’s been successful.

“With the project we’re doing with Epic, it’s in a world we want players to spend more time in. There’s more opportunities to explore the world and the brand than in one single game.”

It’s unclear if the two shared universe games are connected or two different entities at this point.

Remedy has its fingers in many pies at present. Its contribution to CrossfireX in the form of a single-player campaign — has yet to be released to Xbox, while the studio is also working on a multiplayer project called Vanguard, the two Epic Games projects and its next big triple-A title to follow up on Control.
