Comixology app to merge with Kindle app

Separate, no more.

The Comixology app will merge with the Kindle app on 5 December here in Australia, Amazon has today confirmed.

“On December 4, 2023, we will be merging the Comixology and Kindle applications on iOS, Android, and Fire OS,” reads a portion of an email sent to Comixology users today.

“Starting today, any books previously purchased on Comixology will automatically be visible in your library on the Kindle app. The upgraded Kindle app experience is available now; however, you may continue reading your books in the Comixology app until December 4, 2023.”

Jeff DiBartolomeo of Comixology furthered with a statement that said just 7% of Comixology users are actually using the dedicated app to read comics, graphic novels and manga.

“Currently, 93% of comics, graphic novel, and manga customers are reading via Kindle and the Kindle app, and Kindle reading is where a majority of our customers have been for years,” DiBartolomeo said. “The upgraded Kindle app experience is already available and has key Comixology features for enjoying a digital library of comics, graphic novels, and manga, including grouping titles by series; hiding and unhiding specific titles; library filtering for comics content; in-app borrowing for users of our unlimited subscription services; and additional options to read on the web.”

Amazon added that customers who’ve not yet merged their Comixology account with an Amazon login should contact Customer Service immediately for support.
