COD Black Ops 4 Blackout gets new map, goes free in April

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Blackout will get a new and goes free to all over the month of April, Activision has recently revealed.

Both news items are detailed below.

New Blackout map

The new Blackout map is called Alcatraz and “is set in a fog-filled island boasting a variety of environments that all lead up to the big cellhouse atop the hill,” Activision said in a statement. “Requiring new strategies and tactics, players will drop in, gear up and fight through both close-quarters combat and long-range exterior firefights as they battle to be the last squad standing.”

This is Blackout’s second map, and means players will have the opportunity to select between them before jumping into action.

Alcatraz is currently available for players on PS4, and heads to Xbox One and Windows PC on 9 April.

Blackout goes free-to-play in April

Timed with Alcatraz is a free month of Blackout. Users across Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4 can play Blackout for free between 2-30 April, Activision detailed.

As with most free-to-play offers, those who give Blackout a try and decide to buy Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 during or after the free-to-play period will see their progress carry over into the main game. Nice, eh?

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is available now on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4.
