Carmageddon franchise acquired by THQ Nordic

The Carmageddon franchise has been acquired by THQ Nordic, the publisher has announced.

Half demolition derby, half racer, Carmageddon was first released in 1997 by Stainless Games. The studio lost the rights to the franchise but later reacquired them in 2011, launching a successful Kickstarter campaign a year later in 2012 for Carmageddon: Reincarnation. That title released in 2015.

Our latest review of the Carmageddon franchise was Max Damage back in 2016… and it didn’t fare well. The game was also developed by Stainless, who has sold the franchise off to THQ Nordic.

Of late, THQ Nordic has also acquired the Kingdoms of Amalur and Timesplitters franchises. We’ll have more on any of these pieces of IP as it’s made available.

Are you excited about a new Carmageddon game?
