Call of Duty Black Ops 6 coming 25 October, is always-online

Yay?

Call of Duty Black Ops 6 has been confirmed for a 25 October release, alongside news that it will require a persistent internet connection to play in its entirety.

“The Black Ops 6 Campaign blends the rich and gritty history of previous Black Ops titles with returning and new characters, mission variety, and ’90s-themed gadgets,” Activision Blizzard detailed in a media release.

“Black Ops 6 will also offer a massive amount of Multiplayer content at launch, including 16 brand-new Multiplayer maps on Day One, testing players’ skills with new innovations like Omnimovement and Intelligent Movement, increased enemy hit zones, an incredible lineup of new gear, HUD optimisations, and the return of Theatre Mode and Classic Prestige.”

Alongside a new trailer and the confirmation of Black Ops 6‘s release date, Activision Blizzard also confirmed that the game will need an always-online internet connection to play.

“To deliver the highest-quality visuals while also reducing the game’s overall storage space on your hard drive, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will use texture streaming across all game modes,” Activision Blizzard stated.

“This means you’ll need a continuous internet connection to play any game mode, including Campaign. If you’re on a console, Campaign can be played without a premium subscription service such as Game Pass Core or PlayStation Plus.”

Call of Duty Black Ops 6 heads to Windows PC via Battle.net and Steam, alongside Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4, and PS5 on 25 October.
