Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare proves that third-party games don’t have to support PS4 Share Play

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is the first new-release third-party game that doesn’t support the PS4’s new Share Play feature.

After Advanced Warfare censored all gameplay during Share Play, Sony spilled the beans on the functionality.

“Share Play is a system level feature enabled by System Software Update 2.0 making it available for all PS4 titles,” a Sony representative advised. “However the option is available to developers to disable the feature according to what they feel will best benefit the consumer experience.”

Share Play is new to the PS4 and allows one user to share their game with another user. The functionality does not require the second user to own the game, and the functionality is limited to an hour at a time.
