Bruce Straley discusses omission from The Last of Us’ TV credits

Whoops.

The Last of Us co-director Bruce Straley has discussed his omission from the credits of HBO’s Last of Us TV series, calling it an “argument for unionisation”.

Straley co-directed the original The Last of Us with Neil Druckmann back in 2013, though the latter is the only individually named Naughty Dog staffer within the 2023 TV show’s opening credits.

“Someone who was part of the co-creation of that world and those characters isn’t getting a credit or a nickel for the work they put into it,” Straley told the LA Times.

“Maybe we need unions in the video game industry to be able to protect creators,” he added.

Straley worked at Naughty Dog for 18 years, contributing to projects including The Last of Us and its Left Behind DLC and entries in the Uncharted franchise.

The Last of Us airs Mondays on Binge here in Australia; learn more here.
