Brandon Routh returns as Superman on the CW

We’ve our first look at Brandon Routh reprising his role as Superman in an upcoming CW Arrowverse Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover.

Routh, who played the iconic character in Superman Returns, a sequel to the Superman movies starring Christoper Reeves as the lead, will once again don the red and blue. As you can see above and below, Routh’s Superman seems to be taking inspiration from Superman in Kingdom Come, a classic limited run comic series by Mark Waid and Alex Ross — note the black and red S-shield rather than the traditional red and yellow one.

Routh’s version of Superman will be joined by additional iterations of the character thanks to Supergirl‘s Tyler Hoechlin and Smallville‘s Tom Welling. Also appearing in the crossover are Jon Cryer (Lex Luthor from Supergirl), Kevin Conroy (Bruce Wayne from Batman: The Animated Series), Cress Williams (Black Lightning from Black Lightning), Johnathon Schaech (Jonah Hex, Jonah Hex), Erica Durance (Lois Lane, Smallville), Ashley Scott (Huntress, Birds of Prey) and many, many more.

You can take a full look at Routh as Superman below. The actor will also be reprising his role as The Atom from DC’s Legends of Tomorrow; we spoke to Routh about that character back in 2016.

The Infinite Earths crossover will take place across all of the CW’s Arrowverse shows — Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman — across December 2019 and January 2020. Spanning eight seasons, this will be Arrow‘s final season.
