Borderlands 3 next-gen upgrade coming free to existing owners

Update: Borderlands 3 will arrive at launch on next-gen consoles, meaning players can start with it from 10 November on Xbox Series S & X, and from 12 November on PS5 (depending on your region).

Original story: A Borderlands 3 next-gen upgrade was confirmed today by Gearbox, with further confirmation that those that already own the game on Xbox One and PS4 will get a free upgrade to Xbox Series S/X and PS5.

The next-gen version of the popular looter shooter will run at 4K resolution and 60 frames-per-second (FPS). Moreover, Gearbox has confirmed that players will retain progression and purchased content.

Finally, Gearbox also confirmed that it’s working on new skill trees for all Vault Hunter classes, with one for FL4K — a Trapper skill tree — teased. The new tree will place an emphasis on shields and survivability, Gearbox advised.

Borderlands 3 is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Stadia where available. A release date for the Xbox Series S/X and PS5 versions was not detailed.
