Borderlands 2 gets Commander Lilith DLC for free

Update: The DLC has been confirmed. It’s available today and free for owners of Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Handsome Collection until 8 July.

A trailer is below:

“Commander Lilith & the Fight for Sanctuary takes place shortly after the events of the main story in Borderlands 2,” 2K said of the DLC. “Sanctuary is under siege, the Vault Map has been stolen, and a toxic gas is poisoning Pandora. You’ll step back into the boots of legendary Vault Hunters Maya, Salvador, Axton, Zer0, Gaige or Krieg to battle new bosses, explore new areas, and collect new loot, including an entirely new tier beyond Legendary. Join up with Lilith and the Crimson Raiders to take on a deranged villain hell-bent on claiming the Vault Map for himself.”

It’s a good time to mention Borderlands: The Handsome Collection is now part of Xbox Game Pass.

Original story: New Borderlands 2 DLC will bridge the gap between it and the upcoming Borderlands 3, a leak today revealed.

A special surprise from Gearbox was inadvertently leaked ahead of a proper reveal thanks to a listing on Steam. Now removed, the listing for the Commander Lilith & The Fight For Sanctuary was copied by those on Resetera.

“Return to the award winning shooter-looter for a new adventure that sets the stage for the upcoming Borderlands 3,” the listing read. “Sanctuary is under siege, the Vault’s map has been stolen and a toxic gas is poisoning Pandora. Fight new bosses, explore new zones, get new loot (including an entirely new tier beyond Legendary) and join up with Lilith and the Crimson Raiders to take on a deranged villain hell-bent on ruling the planet

“Returning players can pursue an increased level cap of 80, while newcomers can automatically boost to level 30 and dive straight into the action.”

It’s likely Commander Lilith & The Fight For Sanctuary will be officially revealed at E3 2019 next week. Borderlands 2 itself is currently available as a PlayStation Plus freebie for June 2019 thanks to Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, so there’s never been a better time to find out what happens to Sanctuary. (Spoilers: It’s probably nothing good, seeing as how you’ve a new spaceship hub area in Borderlands 3.)

Borderlands 2 is available now on Windows PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One; Borderlands 3 heads to Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4 on 13 September, published by 2K Games.
