Here we go again.
A new Resident Evil film reboot helmed by Barbarian director and writer Zach Cregger is in planning, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
This will mark the third start of a Resident Evil film franchise, following Paul W. S. Anderson’s six Resident Evil entries and 2021’s Welcome to Raccoon City.
The outlet suggests that Cregger’s plans is to launch this reboot “as a revamp that will take the title to its horror roots and be more faithful to the initial games.”
Constantin Films — which owns the screen rights to the franchise and has been behind all previous Resident Evil films — will produce the reboot alongside PlayStation Studios. John Wick Chapter 4‘s Shay Hatten will co-write the film alongside Craggon.
The Hollywood Reporter suggests that four studios are attempting to secure the film, including both Netflix and Warner Bros.
