Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox release reportedly targeting early December 2023

(Tentatively) mark those calendars!

The Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox release date has reportedly been set as 6 December 2023.

That date comes from established leaker eXtas1, who says that if “playtests proceed as planned”, the date is “what Larian has targeted for the game’s Xbox version at the moment.”

The playtests in question revolve around complications on the Xbox platform; developer Larian has stated it wasn’t able (or willing) to get splitscreen co-op up and running on the less powerful Xbox Series S.

The sheer popularity of Baldur’s Gate 3 caused Microsoft to drop its need for parity of games on both Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X.

“Super happy to confirm that after meeting [Phil Spencer] yesterday, we’ve found a solution that allows us to bring Baldur’s Gate 3 to Xbox players this year still, something we’ve been working towards for quite some time,” Larian’s Swen Vincke said back at Gamescom earlier this year.

“All improvements will be there, with split-screen coop on Series X,” Vincke continued. “Series S will not feature split-screen co-op, but will also include cross-save progression between Steam and Xbox Series.”

We’ll let you know when that release date has been locked in.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is already available on Windows PC and PS5.
