Avowed PS5 release set for 17 February

Another Xbox exclusive is no more.

Another Xbox exclusive has bit the dust: Obsidian’s Avowed will be the latest to be ported to PS5, and will be available from 17 February.

It’s not just the core game that’ll be available on PS5; so too will a new update that adds a photo mode, a new game plus mode, new character races that include dwarves, and an additional weapon type.

“It’s a lot of work and a difficult thing to really nail down, especially in Avowed with its parkour systems and its combat mechanics and all the weapon types and stuff like that in the game,” Obsidian’s Dimitri Berman said of the new content as part of the New Game+ Showcase.

“Our different races are different sizes, they’re different shapes, they’re a very unique game experience when you play as each one of them in a first-person game specifically. So it was something new to wrangle for Avowed.”

“Avowed is a truly strange game from top to bottom” Jam wrote in our 7.5/10 review. “It’s one that I’m sincerely glad that I got to play, but also one I don’t think I’ll remember well down the line.”

Avowed is already available on Windows PC, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X — part of Xbox Game Pass — and heads to PS5 on 17 February.
