Avengers Creative Director Shaun Escayg rejoins Naughty Dog

Escayg says the title remains "in good hands."

Marvel’s Avengers Creative Director Shaun Escayg has left developer Crystal Dynamics in order to rejoin Naughty Dog.

The news came by way of Escayg’s Twitter, in which he first posted an image of a note welcoming him back to the offices of the Uncharted and The Last of Us‘ development studio.

“Happy to be back with the Dogs,” Escayg wrote before later adding that Avengers has been left “in good hands.”

Avengers has been fighting an upward battle since release, with Square Enix confirming that the title hadn’t met sales expectations late last year. We crticised the title in our own review, saying it had amazing single-player campaign moments that were ultimately ruined by repetitious and shallow game as a service (GaaS) mechanics.

It’s unclear what Escayg is working on now that he’s back at Naughty Dog, but we’ll keep you posted. He’s previously served as Creative Director on Uncharted The Lost Legacy and worked on the development teams of both Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us.
