Atari’s Ataribox will offer old and new game experiences

Atari today detailed its Ataribox home console, offering few technical details and a lot of promise.

Inspired by the old Atari 2600, the new Ataribox will come complete with wood panelling on its front. The console will sport an HDMI port, SD card reader and four USB ports.

“As you can guess, those ports suggest modern internal specs,” Atari said in an email campaign. “It also means that while we will be delivering classic gaming content, we will also be delivering current gaming content.”

Interesting parties can sign up for regular updates if they wish.

“We’re not teasing you intentionally; we want to get this right,” the newsletter continued. “So we’ve opted to share things step by step as we bring Ataribox to life, and to listen closely to Atari community feedback as we do so.”
