Apple claims “resounding victory” over Epic Games

That sais, alternate payment methods FTW.

Apple has claimed a “resounding victory” over Epic Games after the US Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a previous ruling on an antitrust lawsuit filed by Epic Games’ against Apple.

The court upheld appeals, with nine of ten claims decided in Apple’s favour.

Back in 2021, California Judge Yvonne Gonzalez-Rogers sided with Apple in those nine claims, though the remaining claim is incredibly important; it ruled that Apple couldn’t block alternative payment methods within apps.

Nevertheless, Apple said, “today’s decision reaffirms Apple’s resounding victory in this case.”

“For the second time in two years, a federal court has ruled that Apple abides by antitrust laws at the state and federal levels,” a spokesperson continued.

Apple said it would “consider further review” in the case of that pesky final ruling.

This ordeal all began in 2020, when Apple pulled Fortnite from its App Store after Epic circumvented Apple’s in-app payment systems.
