Apex Legends leave-early penalty enabled, then disabled

An Apex Legends leave-early penalty was briefly enabled before being removed by developer Respawn.

The new functionality, added as part of the game’s 1.1 patch — which also accidentally broke progression for a single morning — wasn’t meant to have been included in the first place, Respawn advised via Reddit.

“So internally, we have been working on and testing this feature but it wasn’t our intention or plan to have it go live with the update that went out today,” Respawn wrote. “There was a piece of script that was missing and caused the leaving match early penalty to be turned on when it shouldn’t be. That’s why it wasn’t in the patch notes.”

Respawn has disabled the script for the time being and said there’s no real ETA on when the leave-early penalty will be re-implemented. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more.

Apex Legends is available now on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4.
