Ancestors creator claims “some reviewers didn’t play the game”

Ancestors The Humankind Odyssey creator Patrice Desilets has lashed out against poor reviews saying that some reviews didn’t even play the game before canning it.

Speaking at Reboot Develop Red (via VG24/7) in a post-mordem about the game, Desilets admitted that Ancestor’s Metacritic score of 64 was the “elephant in the room”.

“We know for a fact, I’m trying to smile when I say that, some reviewers actually didn’t play the game,” Desilets claimed. “It’s part of our industry, they have to review a game, and they have 15 of them to review in one week, and sometimes they don’t have time.

“I know for a fact that some just invented some elements in the game. Just like there is no fire and you cannot ride any horses in our game, but some reviewers said ‘it wasn’t that great when you ride horses’. My people are pissed.”

While we admittedly didn’t play Ancestors, we didn’t review it either. Our friends Luke and Joab over at The GAP sure played it though, and their thoughts seem to mirror those on Metacritic.

Ancestors The Humankind Odyssey is avaliable now on Windows PC and heads to Xbox One and PS4 on 6 December.
