Alone in the Dark delayed again, this time to March 2024

THQ Noriq needs more time.

Alone in the Dark has been delayed once again, this time to March 2024.

“The year is coming to an end, and the Christmas Holidays are upon us,” begins a unique press release. “However, until today, it didn’t seem that way for Pieces Interactive, the team developing our upcoming survival-horror game, Alone in the Dark. With our initially planned release date in January 2024, the Christmas season would have been filled with stress and anything but a jolly time for them.”

Citing the holiday season and a desire not to crunch as the driving factors of this delay, we can now expect the survival horror remake on 20 March 2024.

“The well-being of the teams is a top priority, and both companies want to avoid any potential crunch over the Christmas holidays,” the press release continued. “Furthermore, THQ Nordic and Pieces Interactive want to ensure that the game not only meets but exceeds the expectations of the community, especially with the outstanding performances of Hollywood stars David and Jodie as the main protagonists.”

The game was first expected back in October of this year, but was delayedto 16 January 2024 to make room for Game of the Year contender Alan Wake 2.

Horror games thrive on the eerie embrace of solitude, something that is impossible to achieve in a gaming month as busy as October,” developer Pieces Interactive said back in May.

A demo experience was also made available back in May. Having finished it, we called it “an underwhelming affair” that left us “feeling like it was trying to set a tone much like Resident Evil 7‘s first demo, but instead came across as boring and lacking context.” If you’re interested, you can check out our gameplay above.

Featuring Jodie Comer (Killing Eve) and David Harbour (Stranger Things), we can now expect Alone in the Dark from 20 March 2024 on Windows PC via Steam, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X and PS5.
