Age of Empires 4 will have 8 civilizations for its 2021 launch

Including new civ the Delhi Sultanate from India.

Age of Empires 4 will launch later this year with 8 playable civilizations and 4 new campaigns, developers Relic Entertainment and World’s Edge proclaimed.

The 8 civlizations will include the new Delhi Sultanate from India alongside the Chinese, English and Mongols. Four additional civilizations will be announced before the game’s debut in the second half of the year.

The Delhi Sultanate are entirely new to the franchise and will have hulking war elephants at their disposal.

“The Delhi Sultanate is a powerful technology-based civilization with a key advantage in research, and the potential to emerge as a mighty force capable of devastating their opponents,” Relic said of its new addition.

Relic and World’s Edge confirmed in a Fan Preview event earlier this morning that Age of Empires 4 will offer up four new campaigns. One of those campaigns will be focused on the Normal Conquest, which includes the 1066 Battle of Hastings.

“William of Normandy sets forth on the hard-fought road to conquer England and seize its throne,” Relic said of the campaign. “What follows is an epic story of invasion, anarchy, rebellion, and family conflict – all with the player in command.”

Age of Empires 4 is scheduled to be released on Windows PC sometime in 2021, also available on PC via Xbox Game Pass. You can watch the full Fan Preview event below.
