AFL 23 on Xbox now delayed until August

That might not be a bad thing, Xbox users...

AFL 23 on Xbox has now been delayed into August, developer Big Ant has recently confirmed.

This is the latest is a number of delays for the footy title; originally expected in AprilAFL 23 was first delayed to May before the Xbox version was again delayed into June.

A lack of physical copies of the game on consoles was the reason for the April to May delay; no reason was ever given for the Xbox delay into June. It now looks like that excuse of a physical disc has wormed its way back into this new delay.

“We will be distributing XBox [sic] disks to retailers at the end of July/Early August, as we approach that time we will have a more definitive date,” Big Ant said on Twitter. “We sincerely appreciate the support and patience of the XBox [sic] community.”

The beleagured title, already released on Windows PC via Steam and PlayStation, was launched in an extremely poor state. A number of patches have been released since, and while the title is more stable than before, it’s not a game we’d recommend for purchase at this point.

Ben and Steve will chat about the current state of AFL 23 on next week’s Friendly Fire Show.

We’ll keep you informed as more of AFL 23 on Xbox is known.
