505 Games parent company Digital Bros laying off 30% of its workforce

More bad news.

505 Games parent company Digital Bros will lay off approximately 30% of its workforce as the result of an “organisational review”, it has recently announced.

“The videogame market has evolved since the pandemic to be more selective in terms of new games, with consumers increasingly reverting to well established Intellectual Properties and playing these same games for longer periods,” Digital Bros wrote in a press release.

Layoffs will be made across a variety of publishing units and developers, including 505 Games, Puzzle Quest‘s Infinity Plus Two, Assetto Corsa‘s Kunos Simulazioni and Terraria’s DR Studios to “align with the evolving competitive environment in the medium to long-term to ensure maximum operational efficiency.”

Digital Bros continued to say that “[t]he restructuring program is expected to represent a reduction of approximately 30% of the global workforce, with the predominant portion concentrated within the studios.”

This news is the latest in a wave of layoffs across the games development and publishing industries, including those at Amazon, BungieMedia MoleculeUbisoft and many more.
