12-month Xbox Live Gold subscription removed from Microsoft Store

12-month Xbox Live Gold subscriptions have been removed from the Microsoft Store, Xbox’s Microsoft has confirmed.

“At this time, Xbox has decided to remove the 12 months Xbox Live Gold SKU from the Microsoft online Store,” a representative told TrueAchievements. “Customers can still sign up for a one month or three month Xbox Live Gold subscription online through the Microsoft Store.”

No further reason for the delisting was offered.

The news comes at the same time Microsoft has confirmed that Project xCloud — its game streaming service — will be bundled in with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate at no extra cost. That means Ultimate comes with Xbox Game Pass access on both Xbox One and consoles alongside Xbox Live Gold and xCloud from September.

The move makes some believe Microsoft is simplifying its subscription models, encouraging users to access Live Gold through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate rather than individually. We’ll report back when more is known.

Microsoft has also recently confirmed it has discontinued both the Xbox One S All-Digital and Xbox One X console models in the lead up to the launch of the Xbox Series X.
