How to turn off PS5 main menu music

The PS5 is set to head into homes on 12 November, and head of this time, Stevivor’s been putting it through its paces. While we couldn’t figure out how to turn off main menu music for our review, we’ve figured it out today.

The PS5’s new main menu — or Home Screen, as Sony defines it — will play music from whichever game you’re hovered over. As we mentioned in our review, we tend to leave the main menu up for quite a while at times, so having the deep bass of Spider-Man Miles Morales is more often more distracting than helpful.

If you want to turn off this music, here’s what to do:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Go to Sound > Audio Output
  3. Scroll down and look for Home Screen Music; toggle the option on of off depending on your preference.

The PS5 heads to store shelves on 12 November. We reviewed it here.
