Mortal Kombat 11 online versus offline guide: What can you play?

Mortal Kombat 11 is available now, and as we’ve noted in our review in progress, the game has a heavy reliance on online functionality. This guide will detail what you can do online versus offline.

Let’s get into it!

Offline modes

You’ll be able to do the following inside Mortal Kombat 11 whilst offline:

  • Story mode (rewards will be locked until online again)
  • Tutorial mode (rewards will be locked until online again)
  • Klassic Towers (rewards will not be earned; character endings can be unlocked)
  • Local versus mode
  • Tournament mode
  • Practice and Fatality training modes

Online modes

  • Story mode
  • Tutorial mode
  • Klassic Towers
  • Towers of Time
  • The Krypt
  • Multiplayer
  • Local versus mode
  • Tournament mode
  • Practice and Fatality training modes

It’s a bit of a mixed bag, as you can see — I’m personally rather disappointed that you can’t access the Krypt unless you’ve got a connection to the internet.

We’re in the middle of reviewing the game, so if you’ve any questions on this or any other facet of the fighter, let us know!

Mortal Kombat 11 is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Switch.
