NHL 18: Why Connor McDavid is on its cover without a proper cover vote

EA Canada’s Sean Ramajagsingh explained to Stevivor why NHL 18 went without a cover vote this year, instead bestowing the honour to the Edmonton Oilers’ Connor McDavid.

To Ramajagsingh, the answer was simple.

“Our feature set this year is about capturing the speed, skill and creativity of the new NHL which is being exemplified on a nightly basis by the young superstars who have taken the league by storm,” he said. “Connor McDavid embodies what NHL 18 is all about.

“The match of Connor’s skill and our features were such a perfect match, that we knew very early in our planning that Connor was who we wanted on the cover and thus passed on the cover vote.”

Do you agree with EA Canada’s decision, or would you have appreciated the chance to vote for your favourite player?

NHL 18 heads to Xbox One and PS4 on 15 September. For more with Ramjagsingh, head here.
