AO Tennis “isn’t a once-off” says Big Ant Studios

AO Tennis won’t be a “once-off” release, Big Ant Studios’ Ross Symons told Stevivor.

Announced today, AO Tennis has been 4-5 years in the making and is intended to become another long-running sports franchise for the Melbourne-based developer. Symons said Big Ant “identified a gap” in the tennis video game market around that time and has been working with Tennis Australia to rectify that ever since.

According to Symons, Big Ant means to develop and release multiple iterations of the tennis title, leveraging its sports specialisation to produce, leverage and iterate upon “sandbox elements.”

“Much like [DonBradman [Cricket]… and not so much AFL,” Symons told Stevivor with a laugh.

“It isn’t a once-off.”

AO Tennis will debut in Australia and New Zealand from 16 January 2018 on Xbox One and PS4. Worldwide availability, including a PC release, will follow.
