It's all in the ears...
We’re continuing our Stevivor Game of the Year (GOTY) 2025 awards program today with honours for best in-game audio of the year.
In this category, “audio” means quite a lot, from a game’s soundtrack right down to the way in which individual sound effects are mixed. With all that in mind, Stevivor staffers have declared that Battlefield 6 was the cream of the crop.
Audio is just one of the ways that Battlefield 6 impresses, with Hamish saying that “once you’re stuck in the thick of it,” you’re totally immersed.
“Bullets whizz overhead, rockets scream past and blow gaping holes in walls and grenades fall on objectives like volatile raindrops,” Hamish wrote. “It’s pure chaos, and it’s where Battlefield really shines.”
Coming in second and third, respectively, were Sandfall Interactive’s Clair Obscur Expedition 33 and id Software’s Doom The Dark Ages.
Our Game of the Year 2025 awards program takes a break for Christmas tomorrow, and returns on Boxing Day with Best Narrative of 2025.
