Windows 10, Xbox One Creators Update brings big changes to both platforms

The Xbox One, Windows 10 Creators Update will bring big changes to the Xbox Guide button, Microsoft recently revealed.

On Xbox One, the Guide button (aka, the Xbox logo) will bring up the left-hand focused guide in one press rather than two, and will cease to take you back to the Xbox One main UI screen. The revised guide screen will let you record game clips, directly setting clip length from the same interface. Previous captures will also be accessible from that same screen.

Xbox’s Mike Ybarra demoed the functionality during a recent Beam stream (check around 10.25).

Achievement tracking will be updated, as will be Cortana, friend leaderboards and gamescroe access. Additional controls will also be available for background music.

Over on Windows 10, a new Game Mode will be introduced to increase gameplay performance. Windows Insiders will soon be able to test out the new features, Microsoft confirmed.

The update will also bring Beam integration, tournaments, 3D printing to PC and more. A release date has not been confirmed.
