The PS4.5 Neo is real, won’t make an appearance at E3

Sony’s Andrew House has confirmed the existence of the PS4.5 Neo with the Financial Times. More surprisingly, House has also confirmed it won’t be discussed at E3.

“It is intended to sit alongside and complement the standard PS4,” House said. “We will be selling both [versions of the console] through the life cycle.”

Targeted to hardcore gamers and confirmed to support 4K play, House said E3’s not the time to show off the updated console.

“We want to ensure we have a full range of the best experiences on the new system that we can showcase in their entirety,” he said.

House also asserted that the new PS4.5 won’t cause a bridge between old and new PS4 owners.

“All games will support the standard PS4 and we anticipate all or a very large majority of games will also support the high-end PS4,” he said.

We’ll have more on the Neo as it becomes available.
