The PS4.5 is allegedly codenamed NEO, boasts improved CPU, GPU and RAM

Giantbomb yesterday cited multiple anonymous sources that say the rumoured PS4.5 is codenamed “NEO”. Moreover, the console will feature improved CPU, GPU and RAM compared to the PS4.

Nintendo 3DS-style, the sources continue to say that all PS4 games will ship with a base and NEO mode from October. The base mode will work on either console, and the NEO mode will offer up features that take advantage of the upgraded console. As examples, developers can offer 4K support or boost frame rates instead.

Documents obtained by Giantbomb say that base and NEO games can’t have any exclusive features in either mode, so those with an older console won’t miss out on new content.
