Backwards compatibility announced on Xbox One; dig out those Xbox 360 games

At Microsoft’s press conference, Xbox head Phil Spencer confirmed that the Xbox One will now be backwards compatible.

The Xbox One will now play Xbox 360 games natively – and without extra cost, Spencer said to loud cheers from the Prosumers in the audience.

Mass Effect was shown with Xbox One integration – screenshots, broadcasting and game DVR – built in.

An initial set of backwards compatible titles are now available to Xbox One Preview Program members, while every Xbox One user will have the functionality by this Christmas.
