You’ll soon be able to buy games on Twitch

Twitch today has detailed a new program called ‘Get It On Twitch’, allowing gamers the chance to buy video games directly from within a livestream.

The initiative, rolling out worldwide very soon soon, will provide spectators the opportunity to buy whichever game a streamer is currently showcasing on his or her channel.

Sales will go through Twitch’s parent company, Amazon, and will be available through Twitch’s own game launcher or “existing services” such as Ubisoft’s Uplay.

The streamer playing the title that’s purchased will receive 5% of the revenue from the sale, while 70% will go to the game’s developer. Partnered developers and publishers include Ubisoft, Telltale Games, Digital Extremes, Hi Rez Studios, Double Fine Games, Fred Wood, 11Bit, Jackbox Games, tinyBuild, Raw Fury, Devolver Digital, Gambitious, Trion Worlds, Blue Mammoth Games, iNK Stories, Versus Evil, Proletariat, Paradox Interactive, Vlambeer and Campo Santo.

It’s presumed Twitch will pocket the remaining 25% of revenue for itself from each purchase.

Purchases will go worldwide later this year, with USD the only supported currency at launch. Twitch has promised to roll out additional currency options after launch.
