Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition coming March 2025

Missed out on the Wii U game? You'll get another crack soon...

Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition will make available the 2015 Wii U title on Nintendo Switch in March of next year, Nintendo has today confirmed.

Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition features the player character at the centre of the action in a standalone sci-fi story,” Nintendo said in a press release. “Avatars can be customised in looks and class and the comprehensive battle system offers a wide variety of options.

“Once players have proven themselves to the BLADE organisation, they can also unlock a powerful Skell: A giant, customisable mech that’s proficient in exploration and combat to assist in adventures across Mira.”

We weren’t totally sold on the JRPG in our original Wii U review, though Definitive Edition‘s “enhanced visuals, added story elements and more” may change that.

“This is a gigantic JRPG that leans so heavily on the ‘J’ that players like myself, who enjoy freedom and games that don’t restrict their progress for the sake of it, will struggle to play,” we wrote.

Xenoblade Chronicles X is already available on Wii U; Definitive Edition heads to Nintendo Switch on 20 March 2025.
