WRC finds a new home with Nacon after hitting “the end of the road” with EA

Rejoice, rally fans.

World Rally Championship (WRC) games have found a new home over at publisher Nacon after previous partner EA had advised it had reached “the end of the road” with the property.

Last month, EA said it had “paused development” on WRC games after inheriting the properly via its acquisition of Codemasters.

“Every great journey eventually finds its finish line, and today, we announced that we’ve reached the end of the road working on WRC”, EA stated at the time.

Fast forward to today, and Nacon has advised it “is pleased to announce the signing of a new agreement with WRC Promoter for the publishing of games based on the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC). The agreement covers the development and publishing of the official WRC games and eSports competitions, granting NACON exclusive rights for PC and consoles for six seasons, from 2027 through 2032.”

Nacon has promised “a complete reboot of the franchise, based on an entirely fresh vision, and… an ambitious new chapter in the brand’s development.”

We’ll keep you up to speed on Nacon’s efforts as more is known.
