Witcher 3 free current-gen update coming December

Alongside a new Complete Edition on Xbox Series and PS5.

The Witcher 3 will finally get its free current-gen update on 14 December, CD Projekt Red has today announced.

Those who own the RPG on PC, Xbox or PlayStation will be able to download the PC, Xbox Series S & X and PS5 updates at no additional cost. Otherwise, a new The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Complete Edition will also be available for purchase on those same platforms.

“The upcoming release of CD Projekt Red’s award-winning role-playing game will feature dozens of visual, performance, and technical enhancements over the original,” the publisher said in a press release.

“These include ray tracing support, faster loading times on consoles, as well as a variety of mods integrated into the experience, among many others. Along with new additional content inspired by The Witcher series from Netflix, these will be covered next week in a dedicated REDstreams event on Twitch, where the studio will present gameplay from the next-gen version of the game.”

CD Projekt Red also confirmed that those on last-gen systems, alongside Switch, “will also receive an update featuring numerous additions and improvements, as well as the Netflix Witcher-themed additional content” at a later date.

Those who don’t own the title will find that its Complete Edition comes with the base game and both major expansions: Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine.

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Switch.
