Witcher 3 current-gen versions delayed indefinitely

We'll need to be patient to get PS5 and Xbox Series goodness.

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt current-gen versions — as in, updates for PS5, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X — have been delayed indefinitely as CD Projekt Red has today confirmed they’ll take development back in-house.

“We have decided to have our in-house development team conduct the remaining work on the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt,” CD Projekt Red said in a tweet.

“We are currently evaluating the scope of work to be done and thus have to postpone Q2 release until further notice. We’ll update you as soon as we can. Thank you for your understanding.”

The updates were first announced back in September 2020, with CDPR confirming the update would be free to those who already own the title on Xbox One or PS4. The updates, once in the hands of Russia-based Saber Interactive, were first expected in the latter half of 2021 before being pushed back. It’s now unclear when they’ll be delivered.

When ready, the upgrades will enhance the base game and its two major expansions, offering up ray-tracing, speedier loading times and more.

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Switch.
