Wii games now available on the Wii U via its eShop

At their early morning Nintendo Direct, the publisher confirmed that Wii games will be available via the Wii U’s eShop.

From today, Super Mario Galaxy 2 is available, and Metroid Prime: Trilogy on 29 January. Australia and Europe will get Donkey Kong Country Returns coming 22 January, where North America gets Punch-Out! on the same day.

The Wii U GamePad can be used to control Wii games that were compatible with the Wii Classic Controller, Nintendo also confirmed.

The games will be on sale for $12.99 AUD ($9.99 USD) during their first week, and then revert to their normal price of $25.99 AUD ($19.99 USD) afterward.
