Warner Bros sells a studio to EA, but that’s the only one for sale

Warner Bros will retain all other studios, it asserts.

Warner Bros sold one of its studios to EA last week, but has asserted that all remaining studios will remain internal.

EA picked up Playdemic, the makers of Golf Clash, for a cool $1.4 billion USD last week, continuing its push into sports titles. Late last year, EA acquired Codemasters and will now publish the likes of F1DiRT and Project CARS.

With this new acquisition, EA said it planned to capitalise on the “ongoing success” of Playdemic’s mobile golf game.

WarnerMedia is in the middle of a merger with Discovery, though the company has asserted that its additional development studios will be be sold off as part of the transaction.

“The remaining Warner Bros. Games portfolio is included in the recently announced WarnerMedia-Discovery transaction and will become part of the combined media and entertainment company after the expected close of that transaction,” a press release from AT&T states.

Last year, it was rumoured that organisations including Microsoft were interested in Warner Bros studios like Rocksteady as word of a merger began to circulate.
